Length of Maternity Leave: 8 weeks

What did you struggle with most about returning to work after having your kids? I went back 2 weeks early and I decided to start my return 2 days before Fall Break. These two days allowed me the chance to adjust a little and make sure I wasn't returning too early. My job requires me to switch class like a high school student. I have been back at work for almost two months and my brain and body are still adjusting to my jobs demands, but the students help me forget I am a mom sometimes.

What do you find difficult about being a working parent? Having to kiss my baby goodbye while I work for 8 hours and driving to and from work.

What do you enjoy about being a working parent?

I enjoy the new atmosphere. Being able to feel comfortable with leaving my child with someone I trust and not worrying myself to death. After being back at work for some time, have your views about career and family changed? I have realized how important it is for me to get my teaching license. I have also been saying these exact word "I don't want another child". Lol.

Knowing what you know now, what’s one thing you wish you could go back in time and tell yourself as you were preparing to return to work or getting ramped up in your role?

Take that extra week or longer if you need to. Think more about you and your baby. Things will work themselves out. God has everything worked out!

What did you choose for childcare, and how has it been for your family?

My mother. I love that I have someone I trust to watch my baby. I just wish my mom was younger. She gets worn out easily.

Anything else you want to share? I would like women to know how important it is to speak up about anything you feel uncomfortable about when pregnant and after. Do your research, ask questions, ask for help and cry! Children are the most precious creatures and they need you! Don't give up! You got this!
